Thank you to the many people that have encouraged me to paint.
My Grandma Muriel, " Muriel, how come you have so many fruits of the spirit? It really isn't fair to the rest of us, it makes us look bad. We think you should think about that." Then I heard my grandma's friends from church say goodbye and leave the old farm home, chatty, and laughing. (age 9)
"Grandma, what is your favorite fruit of the spirit? Those ladies said you have all of them...." She replied," I think meekness."
Neighbor/owner of TriCity Furniture..." Stacie, you can paint one while I do. It is oil.. I will show you how." (age 10)
My Dad Jon..." Stacie, do you see up there? Up in the sky? All those stars? Did you know God made all of them? The sky goes on and on, and God made it all. Isn't that amazing? I can't help but to think of Him when I see all those stars." (age 10) Dad and Susan have had paintings always in their home s).
My Mom Darleen..." Stacie, you are so talented at drawing. Look, I framed your painting of the shepherds watching their flock." (age 14) She and Brad have paintings in their home(s). She has been a huge supporter since I was a kid!
My daughter Emma.... "Mom, can you paint a painting for my curling club? It needs to be something of Michigan; they will take it on their national's competition trip and sell it in an auction for a fundraiser. " She has a large painting over her couch; what a sweet girl she is to my heart.
My aunt Connie and Uncle Dean.. " Stacie, you should use your talent for the Lord. He gave it to you and people would want to see them. We brought you all these canvases from the store, we hope they are the right size. We love you." Fast forward a few decades and they still have one over their couch that I did for her a long time ago and a magnet on their fridge of photographed painting.
My son, Lance...." Mom, you should paint more. Everyone likes them. If you want help with a website or selling them, let me know. I can try to help between classes and tests." His wife also loves to paint. They are both such a blessing to me.
Mr. and Mrs. Moolenaar (Midland)... " Stacie, thank you for the paintings. Our son (US House of Rep) walked in and noticed it in the living room right away and liked it, I asked if he knew what the painting was of and he guessed it right away and said, isn't that the waterfall in Dow Gardens?"
Artist Evelyn Shelagowski (Traverse City).. " Stacie, I heard your paintings are similar to mine and that you have a private show coming up. Don't worry. It will go well. if you ever get stuck on a painting, don't forget that you can use the tip of your finger. I do it all the time. It works really well for grapes."
Dort Ramseyer... (Midland).. " Stacie, I love your painting, and put it here in my sewing room. I look at it and think of you and how good you paint. It is perfect in here. I want you to paint more for lots of people."
Mr. Charlie Schwartz.. (Bay City).. " Stacie is the award winner of this year's art scholarship. It won't cover much for college classes, but it is our only one and I hope it encourages her to continue with art. Her art is the kind that could be famous someday. "
Tracy Mowry, " Stace... I just love them." She has been so fun, and full of ideas. She once purchased magnets of duplicated/minimized paintings for each family member for Christmas. I think she has three paintings in her home(s) as well.
